Bellevue, Ohio · Est. on the Nickel Plate Road
Our Story
The Railway Heritage
Built on the tracks that connected America
The Nickel Plate Road — officially the New York, Chicago and St. Louis Railroad — ran right through Bellevue, Ohio. For generations, this small town was a hub of industry and movement, its workers rising before dawn to keep the trains running and the country connected.
We named our roastery in their honor. The same grit, the same early mornings, the same pride in craft — that spirit lives in every bag we roast.
Small Batch Craft
Roasted to order, every week
We roast in small batches — never more than we can sell fresh that week. No warehouses, no sitting inventory. When you order, your beans haven't been roasted yet.
That means peak flavor, peak aroma, and a cup that tastes the way coffee was meant to taste — not the way it tastes after six months in a distribution center.
FairTrade Sourcing
Farmers first, always
Every bean we roast is 100% FairTrade certified. That's not a marketing badge — it's a commitment to the farmers in Ethiopia, Colombia, and beyond who grow the coffee that ends up in your cup.
FairTrade means fair wages, safe working conditions, and community investment. It means the women-led cooperative in Yirgacheffe gets paid what their labor is worth. It means we can look our customers in the eye and say: this cup didn't cost someone else their dignity.
The railway workers of Bellevue knew what it meant to do hard work for fair pay. We carry that same value into every sourcing decision we make.
What we stand for
Heritage
Named for the Nickel Plate Road and the workers who built this town. We carry their work ethic into every roast.
Fairness
100% FairTrade sourced. Every farmer who grows our coffee is paid fairly for their labor — no exceptions.
Freshness
Small batch, roasted to order, shipped the same week. Your coffee should taste like it was just roasted — because it was.
